Use your recordings to break every crystal

Break all four crystals within the same final 60-second cycle. Record the necessary plate holds and crystal-button presses during the previous two cycles, then let your phantoms repeat those actions while you and your partner activate the remaining buttons.

02

How the recorded loops work

Ghosts of Our Past is checkpoint 5-6 in the Temporal Research Centre's clock tower. Each cycle lasts 60 seconds and records both Explorers' actions. Phantoms replay the previous two cycles, including movement and crystal-button presses, so earlier versions of you can operate mechanisms alongside the live players.

The first wing has six pressure plates, and goop can hold them down as well as Explorers. Plan which plates your recordings will cover before assigning the live players their crystal buttons. Keep the necessary holds active long enough for the player using the doorway to complete their action.

03

Open the route through the crystal wings

  1. Hold down the first wing's six pressure plates with Explorers, goop, or replayed holds to open its door.
  2. Press crystal A's button to unlock access to the Norček wing.
  3. Press crystal B's button to open the Ruins wing, where crystals C and D are located.

The preliminary A and B presses can happen during earlier cycles as you open access to the later wings. The finishing requirement is stricter: all four crystals must break within the same final cycle. Build your recordings around the access and button presses that final attempt will need.

04

Record the holds and presses you need

  1. Assign an earlier cycle a specific plate hold or crystal-button press, giving its phantom a clear job in the finishing route.
  2. Perform the assigned interaction early enough for the player depending on it to use the opening during the replay.
  3. Maintain any required plate hold for the duration your partner needs, so its phantom does not release the doorway too soon.
  4. Record the next necessary hold or press during the following cycle, building around the actions already being replayed.
  5. Keep every essential recording within the previous two cycles, ensuring its phantom is available for the finishing attempt.
05

Finish the crystal sequence in the same cycle

  1. Let the recorded plate holds establish the required doorway access, freeing the live Explorers to follow the crystal route.
  2. Activate any A or B button still assigned to a live player, opening the wing needed for the remaining presses.
  3. Activate whichever crystal buttons your phantoms leave unfinished, dividing the remaining work between you and your partner.
  4. Complete the outstanding presses before the final 60-second cycle ends, so all four crystals break within that cycle and finish the puzzle.
06

Fix missing actions and late openings

If a doorway opens too late or closes before the crossing is finished, check the recorded plate hold. A phantom repeats the timing and duration you recorded. Change that earlier hold before attempting the dependent route again.

If a crystal-button press is missing, check whether it happened in the recording you are relying on. An omitted or late press remains omitted or late when the phantom replays it. Also remember that only the previous two cycles replay; an older successful action cannot support the current attempt.

  1. Pull the central clock-tower reset chain together to restart the loop when the current recordings cannot complete the route.
  2. Record the missing hold or button press deliberately, correcting the timing or duration that blocked your previous attempt.
  3. Rebuild the finishing attempt around the previous two cycles, giving every required hold and press an available live or recorded Explorer.
